Price Changes

I have an important message to make about my commissions going forward. At the start of this year I started keeping track of my income and expenses via a spreadsheet for the sake of reporting taxes and evaluating my gross profit. I have been reasonably productive this month and looking at my gross profit and my goals of moving out of my current (and anxiety ridden) living conditions with my parents, along with my prices as compared to my fellow artists, I have decided to increase my commission prices.

I have deliberated over this for a while now and when to do it, so here is how the prices are changing:

• Because it would seem kind of abrupt for the next commission after Sorez’s, instead of immediately increasing the prices to their new amount I’m going to gradually increases the price in $20 intervals until we reach the new commission prices

• Sketches (which are actually linework with some grayscale and minor shading) will be increasing from $40 to $80 per character with the additional character discount eliminated. Sketch backgrounds are remaining $40. The sketch complexity upcharge will be +$20 and the simplicity discount (mainly for busts or partial character drawings) will be -$10.

• Flats (which have some minor shading) will be increasing from $80 to $140 per character with the additional character discount eliminated. Flat backgrounds are increasing from $80 to $100. The flat complexity upcharge will be +$30 and the simplicity discount (mainly for busts or partial character drawings) will be -$10.

• Renders (which are lines, flats, and a lot of shading and rendering work) will be increasing from $120 to $250 per character with the additional character discount eliminated. Rendered backgrounds are increasing from $120 to $150. The rendered complexity upcharge will be +$50 and the simplicity discount (mainly for busts or partial character drawings) will be -$10.

• Taurs are no longer subject to complexity upcharge. Complexity upcharge is explicitly for characters with “intricate” and dense designs.

• Starting soon, money for commissions will be expected upfront in order to maintain your queue slot if you are in position 1-5 in the queue. This means that I will invoice you when your commission is 1-5 slots away and will not begin work on your commission until you have paid. The commission form is otherwise still permanently open to discord members and does not require any payment to submit.

 

Other News

• The Blueberry Cow Growth Drive will be starting soon next month. It will be called “Don’t Touch My Pie!”. and Lukka will be the subject. This drive will receive a new part every $500 and will be on the website Fountain-Alchemy.net with a link to contribute.

• The website will now be updated with new art the 1st of every month (with the exception of growth drive images, which will be uploaded immediately).

• Fountain Mask tier character pin-ups are planned to begin next month. These will still be free but will not be rendered, but flats instead. There will be a form to claim your pin-up sometime next month and a page with these pin-up will be made and populated as they are completed on the website (with placeholder text for those who are fountain mask tier but have no pin-up yet). Fountain Masks with a pin-up and at least 10 commission from me with that character in it will get their own gallery page on the website.

Final Thoughts

Last year was really unproductive, and I want to apologize formally for that. I took in a lot of money from subscribers and gave very little in return, and it might feel a bit sour for me to increase prices now, but the simple fact of the matter is that I believe my work is worth more now and I will charge what I believe my work to be worth. I want to sincerely thank all Fountain Alchemy supporters from the bottom of my heart; you guys kept me afloat during a terrible year. Here’s to a productive 2022.
